YES – There is HOPE

Victoria Youth Empowerment Society (YES) is a non-profit agency formed in 1992 that uniquely provides specialized programs designed to support and guide our at risk youth (ages 13-19) to make better lifestyle choices, find the resources they need to increase the likelihood of future employment, housing or return to their families. YES provides the business community, the police, and social service providers with an option for dealing with the high number of youth in the downtown core. There is no charge for programs provided by YES

A downtown drop in center run by Youth Empowerment Society and offers a safe alternative to hanging out on the streets of downtown Victoria. Here teens can receive a meal, shower, access communications tools and engage in some leisure activities. The Club is a platform where these kids begin relationships and build trust with the YES staff and engage in progrmas available to help them find their way off the streets. In 2015 the Alliance Club  served over 8000 meals for 622 youth and the Outreach team supported over 400 youth.

KEYS: Kiwanis Emergency Youth Shelter

A 10 bed facility, provides services to both male and femail youth between the ages of 13 and 18 who have no safe place to stay. KEYS counsellors respond to crises including parent/teen conflict, issues of abuse and youth homelessness. Shelter is available up to seven nights and during this time KEYS staff assist youth with their plan. Learn more about KEYS

In 2015 KEYS received 844 referrals and 281 accessed the residential component. 


Is a 5 bed residential non-medical withdrawal management program for youth who want support with detoxification from alcohol and other drugs. The program offers up to 10 days to detox and stabilize both physically and emotionally and then supports to develop a pln and collaborate with on-going professional support to reach their personal goals. In 2015 SYD admitted 156 Youth with a 75% success rate.


Offering short and long term counselling and outreach for Youth and their parent/caregivers with a strong emphasis in prevention of family breakdown. The objective is to provide the necessary interventions and mediation required to support the safety, well-being and reunification of youth and their families by identifying and reducing their crisis and restoring stabilzation. In 2015 Youth and Family Cousellors assisted 104 families.
